north of Brisbane, the Sunshine Coast is one of Australia's
most popular holiday destinations made up of a chain of small,
friendly towns with beautiful beaches and a rich, green hinterland.
The area is experiencing rapid growth however large areas of
forest and national park have been set aside to maintain the
Sunshine Coast's open countryside. |

Noosa Heads is the best known
of the Sunshine Coast's towns and it has a vibrant but relaxed
atmosphere. Central Hastings Street is full of restaurants,
bars and shopping with many upmarket boutiques. Yet Noosa
Beach (above) is predominantly National Park and resort development
is mostly in keeping with the natural environment.

| Caloundra
is at the southern end of the Sunshine Coast. Its calm waters
and beautiful Kings Beach make it a popular family destination. |

| It's not all sun,
sand and surf. Rolling green hills and lush rainforest provide
pleasant day trips or country cottage retreats. There are
also nature parks and other local attractions like the Big
Pineapple, one of a basket of oversize fruit dotting Queensland's

Whether
rock, surf or river fishing, there's a good chance you'll
get a bite on the Sunshine Coast and if you are not successful,
there are plenty of fish shops and restaurants along the coast.
